Women’s Empowerment Workshops - 2017

The Women’s Empowerment Workshops is a project to help a group of young women feel empowered by providing the skills and knowledge needed to make better informed decisions within society.

Year 11 Pastoral Care students started this workshop at the beginning of term 3. The workshops are a certificate program which will take 6 weeks.

Women make up a large population of our enrolments. According to the ISRA Melbourne student database, one in two students are females. As the enrolment officer, it has been observed that there also is a growing number of females enquiring about the courses and coming in and enrolling in the courses.

One of the biggest hesitations articulated to the enrolment officer for women signing up for CISAC courses is that they feel distant from the academic environment. They are not confident to undertake such studies and therefore are feeling disempowered. This course aims to empower these young women.

The empowerment of women is also essential for the reason that they play a pivotal role within society. Having them engaged in programs enhances the potential to have them personally develop into thriving spiritual individuals who have overall wellbeing. A change of mindset can change their world. These programs aspire to do that.

Year 10 Photography Elective Excursion

On Monday the 31st July the Year 10 photography class went to the Melbourne CBD as part of their semester 2 project. Students are working on individualised photo-magazine creation by applying all the techniques and knowledge taught in semester 1.

Students came up with many interesting topics to work on which made me, as the teacher for the course, very excited and proud. It was a beautiful sunny day to walk around the city to capture images and even talking to a couple of homeless people in the street as a few students are working on disadvantaged people in society today.
